"In 2003 The 5K Shwachman Diamond Dash For a Cure was in need of sponsorships for it's inaugural debut. My 3 year old son had been diagnosed with Shwachman Diamond Syndrome, which has no cure. So my family and I planned a 5K Run/Walk in Sayville, to raise funds for research as well as bring awareness to this syndrome. As I'm sure you know, asking others for donations is a difficult task. Lucky for me, I summoned the courage to ask Jim Folks, of Folks Ins Group, to be one of our sponsors. Without hesitation, he jumped at the opportunity to help us out. And for the last 12 years we've been fortunate to have Jim Folks on board. Each year he continues to show his support by generously donating with a smile. When I see him in town, he always shows genuine concern for my son's health."
